The new IWC Schaffhausen campaign focuses on the latest addition to the Portofino collection, the Portofino Chronograph 39. It is worn by supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Here is a closer look at this timepiece that is both elegant and durable, like the new muse.

The perfect ambassador for the Portofino Chronograph 39

Gisele Bündchen, the new face of the Portofino Chronograph 39, perfectly represents the environmental values that are so dear to IWC Schaffhausen. The famous Brazilian supermodel is part of this focus, serving as IWC’s first Environmental & Community Projects Advisor. Moreover, she has been a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador since 2009. In the campaign, Gisele Bündchen wears several watches from the brand, most notably the new Portofino Chronograph 39, an elegant designer timepiece. A collaboration that makes perfect sense.

A chronograph for everyday use

The 39 mm chronograph has a stainless steel case, a silvered dial and rhodium-plated hands. It is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69355 calibre. The durable and precise chronograph movement features a classic column-wheel design allowing for the measurement of time intervals up to 30 minutes. It is visible through a domed sapphire glass that has anti-reflective coating on both sides and builds up a power reserve of 46 hours. The watch is water resistant to 5 bar. The Portofino 39 comes with a beige calfskin strap. The strap can be changed quickly and easily, allowing you to go with a different style whenever you want.

TOP GUN, ein Klassiker unter den Kinoklassikern. Die erste Ausgabe erschien in den 80er-Jahren und war ein voller Erfolg. In den Hauptrollen spielten Tom Cruise als „Maverick“, Anthony Edwards als „Goose“ und andere große Filmikonen wie Val Kilmer, Michael Ironside, Kelly McGillis, Meg Ryan … 2022 kehrt der Klassiker mit einem neuen Film, TOP GUN: MAVERICK, zurück und bringt die ikonischen Charaktere wieder auf die Leinwand.

LEBENDIGE GESCHICHTE – TOP GUN EXISTIERT

Nur wenige Menschen wissen es – die heutige Generation zum Beispiel gar nicht –, aber der Generation aus den Zeiten des Originalfilms ist es bekannt: Das im Film dargestellte TOPGUN-Programm ist die Elite-Jagdflugschule der United States Navy, ein echtes Programm der US-Navy.

Die Heeresdivision stand Pate für einen großen Klassiker der 80er-Jahre-Kriegsfilme, der nun in einem neuen Teil wieder aufgegriffen wird.

Pantone® X IWC Schaffhausen

Color is one of the characteristics that make us choose one watch over another. This year, the famous Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen has teamed up with Pantone® to create some unique timepieces. Let’s discover the models unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2022.

IWC Woodland

This color, we are sure, will make many people fall in love with it. This deep green is inspired by the suits of elite pilots and the forest landscapes of the TOPGUN flying school. The watch is equipped with the IWC Manufacture Caliber 69380, which ensures accurate timekeeping measurements up to 12 hours. This movement is robust, precise, and reliable.

IWC Lake Tahoe

The color of Lake Tahoe is inspired by the typical winter white of the Lake Tahoe area. This area is often used for training by naval aviators. The 44mm white ceramic case contrasts perfectly with the black dial and hands. Like the previous timepiece, this model is also equipped with the IWC Manufacture Caliber 69380.

IWC Mojave Desert

It is the location of the TOPGUN flight school that made this color possible. Indeed, this sandy color is inspired by the desert landscape that can be seen around China Lake. The Mojave Desert is equipped with the IWC 52615 movement, which has been designed to withstand extreme conditions. With its exceptional resistance to magnetic fields and a power reserve of up to 7 days, this watch is intented for the modern adventurer.

IWC Ceratanium®

This not-quite-black is mesmerizing thanks to its matte appearance. The new Ceratanium® material has an ultra-sophisticated manufacturing process. Behind this black envelope is the IWC Calibre 69385, an extremely robust, reliable and precise chronograph movement.

IWC Jet Black

This model features a deep, matte black color that is inspired by the technical components of modern jet aircraft. The watch is equipped with Caliber 82100 which gives it a nice 60-hour power reserve.
