HISTORY SINCE 1832

What does Longines mean?

The term Longines comes from the term the longines, meaning long meadow, elongated fields. When it comes to the origins of the brand, we could think from 1880, when the brand was registered in the Federal Office of Intellectual Property or even in 1889, when the logo was registered, the classic sandwatch with wings with equestrian inspiration. 1893? Registered in the international office, being the oldest brand with registered activity.

If we want to be precise, it starts in 1832.

3 partners, August Agassiz and two others founded their watchmaking agency in Saint-Imier, pocket watches being their speciality. Later, it was Ernest Francillon who was the driving force behind the company.

1913

In this pre-World War I year, Longines developed its first monopusher wrist chronograph caliber, the 13.33Z. An excellent movement of high quality, 29.00 mm in diameter, it is equipped with a 30-minute counter and measures the time with great precision.

2014

Elegance is an attitude is the brand’s slogan and one of its core values. This was the inspiration for the Elegant collection, which perfectly represents the classicism and sobriety inherent to the watch brand itself. Each model in this collection represents its own definition of elegance.

NOWADAYS

A few years ago they unveiled a revolutionary development in timing. The Longines Positioning System, which provides instant data on the exact position of the horses during the races as well as their ranking.

New store: Longines in Geneva!

Last month, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker Longines, synonymous with elegance, luxury and refinement, opened its new shop in the centre of Geneva

It all began in 1832 when Auguste Agassiz and two partners founded a watch shop in Saint-Imier. That same year, they produced their first movement, the 20A, a 20-ligne model that had an anchor escapement, a winding device and a time setting device. Over the years, the company established itself around the world, particularly in the United States.

The year 1852 was a key one for Longines, as it marked the arrival of the economist Ernest Francillon, Agassiz’s nephew. Taking the reins of the family business, the economist implemented a range of developments, including the Longines factory in 1867. Shortly after the opening of the workshop, the watch brand earned its first medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, the first in a long series of recognitions. The winged hourglass brand, which is now part of the Swatch Group, is the oldest watch brand still in use, unchanged. Its watches are unmistakable symbols of passion for excellence.

New shop

At 40 Rue du Rhône, one of the best-known shopping streets in Switzerland, Longines’ newest shop windows have been waiting to be discovered since October 2021. The shop was designed to offer an elegant and luxurious setting.

On the outside, you will find a clean and sophisticated façade showcasing the brand’s identity. Inside, the shop is warm and welcoming, elegantly featuring an array of materials in the watchmaker’s signature colours. Moreover, it is the only shop with a Collector’s Corner, an area reserved exclusively for vintage watches.

Longines describes this new shop as “a contemporary interpretation of Longines’ traditional values and illustrates the brand’s innate ability to match elegance and innovation.”

Omega Seamaster 007 Edition

Discover the watch from the film No Time to Die, to be released in October

Identical to 007’s watch in No Time to Die, Omega is launching a 42 mm Seamaster in strong yet lightweight Grade 2 Titanium with a brown “tropical” aluminium bezel ring and dial. Find this piece at Geneve Company before it is picked up by 007 film buffs.

James Bond has been wearing Omega Seamasters in every film since 1995. Over the years, the brand has also created an array of special edition watches with features that celebrate 007 and its more than 50-year legacy of genre-defining films.

Now in 2021, agent 007 is on a mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist, but the operation turns far more dangerous than expected. To take on a mysterious new ruffian, James Bond is armed with his Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition, crafted from robust titanium for the most action-packed situations.

Seamaster Diver 300M

It is slightly slimmer than standard Diver 300M models, thanks to the convex shape of the sapphire glass, and comes with a Grade 2 titanium mesh bracelet with an innovative adjustable buckle.

The Diver 007 Edition contains the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, which has achieved the industry’s highest standards in terms of precision and chronometric performance.

Automatic movement with Co-Axial escapement. Master Chronometer Certified, approved by METAS, resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. Free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, automatic winding in both directions. Special luxury finish with rhodium-plated rotor and bridges with Côtes de Genève in arabesque.

Marco Bicego celebrates the 20th anniversary of Marrakech

The jewellery designer is celebrating the anniversary with a new collection

The Italian master has devoted his life to creating finely crafted high-quality pieces, and now he is presenting his Marrakech Onde collection to mark the 20th anniversary of the brand’s launch.

The different collections of the Italian brand are available at Geneve, where we carry a wide variety of handcrafted pieces by this jewellery maker

All the jewellery is created at the headquarters in Trissino by master craftspeople who, with their manual dexterity, shape gold into unique and inimitable pieces of jewellery, like the women who wear them. The pieces express the refinement and elegance of a 100% Italian made product.

According to Marco Bicego himself, the pieces in the first Marrakech collection have made his brand recognisable, as have the other famous collections like Goa, El Cairo and Masai. The story of this series of pieces began when the Italian jewellery designer was still working at his father’s company and saw a chain discarded due to a defect. He then came up with an idea: the chain became a new concept of beauty –irregular, deliberately imperfect and unique– thus embracing this concept for what it was.

The creation of jewellery in an artisanal way is one of the hallmarks of the Italian brand

The new collection

Marrakech Onde was born from Marco Bicego’s knowhow full of craftsmanship and its own identity. It is a new, different, contemporary collection with a distinctive primary feature: lightweight and thin 18-carat yellow gold in the shape of a spiral and in deliberately irregular ovals adorned with pavé diamonds.

There are three different variations available:

1. More youthful and dynamic, with all the chain links in gold.

2. More classic, with interspersed diamond-studded ovals.

3. More romantic, with concentric ovals and small diamonds.

The bracelets

A semi-rigid mesh wraps around the wrist, creating an unexpected three-dimensional look.

The earrings

The concentric earrings are perfect for every occasion. They can be worn during the day for an elegant romantic look or paired with an evening gown, making them the focal point that enhances it.

The necklaces

It is a more lightweight version of a classic chain adorned with diamond-studded elements. It is perfect for any time of day.

If you like the pieces by this designer, come visit us and a fine jewellery expert advisor will help you find the perfect look with this Italian jewellery. You can book an appointment here. We look forward to seeing you.

The collection contains eight 38 mm watches crafted in stainless steel or a combination of steel and 18-carat Sedna™ gold. These pieces are driven by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8802. There are also new dials in dark green, light green, linen and extra white mother-of-pearl.

There are two luxury models in 18-carat Sedna™ gold with diamond-set bezels. These pieces are powered by an Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8803 with an 18-carat Sedna™ gold rotor and balance bridge. Customers can opt for an Aqua Terra with a purple jade dial and an 18-carat Sedna™ gold bracelet or a model with an extra white mother-of-pearl dial and a red leather strap.
