6300/400G – Grandes Complicaciones – Cuerda Manual

6300/401G – Grandes Complicaciones – Cuerda Manual

5271/11P – Grandes Complicaciones – Cuerda Manual

5271/12P – Grandes Complicaciones – Cuerda Manual

A thousand and one shades of pearls

pearls

Pearls come in all kinds of sizes and colours. Often perceived as classic, they are making a comeback and looking more modern and radiant than ever. Do you want to know more about this gemstone? Learn more about pearls and discover our selection of jewellery.

How do pearls form?

Pearls are the result of a natural phenomenon. They form inside oysters when a foreign substance slips inside their shell. The oyster then protects itself by covering the intruder with layers of nacre, eventually resulting in a smooth, round, nacre pearl. These highly coveted natural pearls are used by many brands, because the gift of pearl jewellery is a timeless piece that can last a lifetime.

What do pearls symbolise?

The pearl is a gemstone that symbolises elegance, refinement and confidence. Often associated with Venus, the goddess of love, it conveys femininity. It is also the stone that represents 30 years of marriage. This trendy gemstone is an integral part of today’s fashion.

Our selection of pearl jewellery

Each pearl is unique, no two are the same, which is why we like to work with them to create extraordinary pieces.

Un cronógrafo, tres variaciones. Descubra el Panerai Luminor Chrono.

panerai luminor chrono

Bonitas proporciones y detalles equilibrados

Cases from every angle

watch case

When choosing a watch, you do so based on a range of criteria, including the material, the colour, the design and the shape. The case shape is crucial, as it is an expression of your personality. While we usually go with a round shape –the most popular–, there are in fact others to choose from. You will increasingly come across different shapes, such as rectangular or even triangular. Let’s take a closer look at case shapes.

Different case shapes

Here is an overview of the most common case shapes in the world of watches.

The standard shape: round

The quintessential classic shape, a round case suits both men and women. It is an easy-to-wear shape for every occasion that goes with every style of clothing.

The geometric shape: square and rectangular

Square and rectangular dials and cases have been very popular in recent years. These shapes, which convey a more serious and formal image, are often used in the watch industry.

The feminine shape: oval

The oval is a highly regarded shape among women. With this shape, it is possible to stick with a rounded form while adding a touch of originality.

The in-between shape: cushion-shaped

Are you deciding between square and round? Then the cushion shape is made for you! This square shape featuring rounded corners captivates enthusiasts with its unconventional lines.

The ultra-masculine shape: barrel-shaped

Drawing on the silhouette of a barrel, this shape is used less often than the others. It is more popular with men than with women. It is a bold choice that looks good with a range of styles.

Come visit our shops to learn more about our models! We look forward to helping you discover all the secrets of our case shapes. You will inevitably find the perfect one for you.

Elegance and durability with the Portofino Chronograph 39

gisele bundchen iwc portofino chronograph 39

The new IWC Schaffhausen campaign focuses on the latest addition to the Portofino collection, the Portofino Chronograph 39. It is worn by supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Here is a closer look at this timepiece that is both elegant and durable, like the new muse.

The perfect ambassador for the Portofino Chronograph 39

Gisele Bündchen, the new face of the Portofino Chronograph 39, perfectly represents the environmental values that are so dear to IWC Schaffhausen. The famous Brazilian supermodel is part of this focus, serving as IWC’s first Environmental & Community Projects Advisor. Moreover, she has been a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador since 2009. In the campaign, Gisele Bündchen wears several watches from the brand, most notably the new Portofino Chronograph 39, an elegant designer timepiece. A collaboration that makes perfect sense.

A chronograph for everyday use

The 39 mm chronograph has a stainless steel case, a silvered dial and rhodium-plated hands. It is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69355 calibre. The durable and precise chronograph movement features a classic column-wheel design allowing for the measurement of time intervals up to 30 minutes. It is visible through a domed sapphire glass that has anti-reflective coating on both sides and builds up a power reserve of 46 hours. The watch is water resistant to 5 bar. The Portofino 39 comes with a beige calfskin strap. The strap can be changed quickly and easily, allowing you to go with a different style whenever you want.

Jewellery that matches your skin

jewellery skin

Pieces of jewellery are not simply fashion accessories; they reflect the personality of the wearer. From white gold to yellow gold, there are many metals used in the design of jewellery creations. Did you know that some metals suit you better than others? While it is important to follow your tastes and instincts, don’t hesitate to ask your jeweller for advice to help you choose the metal that is best for you. Below are our tips on choosing your jewellery according to your skin undertone as well as a selection of jewellery that may be just right for you.

Know your skin undertone

It is not always obvious which skin undertone you have. The easiest way is to look at your wrist, especially your veins. Do you have blue veins? Then you have a cool skin undertone. Do you have green veins? In this case, your skin undertone is warm. If you are not sure, it’s because you have a neutral skin undertone.

Which metals and stones are best for warm undertones?

Naturally tanned and sun-kissed skin will undoubtedly be enhanced by yellow gold, which will highlight and illuminate the skin. Warm undertones can also opt for rose gold jewellery. As for stones, we advise you favour yellow, orange and green ones. Yellow sapphire, imperial topaz and emerald are your best bets.

Which metals and stones are best for cool undertones?

Cool skin undertones, and thus paler complexions, are enhanced by silver, white gold and platinum. These metals can be paired with red, purple and blue coloured stones such as rubies, amethysts or even blue sapphires for a pure, fresh look.

Fope Prima Bracelet

Which metals and stones are best for neutral undertones?

Those with neutral undertones are very lucky, because you can wear anything. Indeed, you can switch from white gold to yellow gold without a second thought and even wear them together if you want. To stay on top of the latest trends, you can have a wide variety of jewellery to create beautiful combinations.

The Breitling Chronomat family is welcoming two new members

breitling chonomat gmt 40

Breitling has recently announced that it is releasing two new Chronomat models. On the one hand there is the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 and on the other, the Super Chronomat Automatic 38, both of which will be the perfect fit for any wrist. New sizes, new features and a streamlined look for the latest Breitling pieces.

The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40, a watch for travellers

Because travel is back on the agenda, watchmakers are focusing on GMT complications. GMT is the abbreviation of Greenwich Mean Time, the very first international time zone. The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 has two time zones and a casual, versatile design. The dials come in black, blue, green, anthracite and white and are combined with a steel bracelet and case. The GMT hand stands out on the dial with its bold red colour. The watch is powered by Breitling Calibre 32. The 24-hour scale allows users to track a second time zone and know whether it is day or night. The crown is Chronomat’s signature “onion” type. The timepiece is water resistant to a depth of 200 metres. A timepiece combining the air, land and sea in an elegant, understated style.

Featuring lab-grown diamonds on its 18-carat red gold or stainless steel bezel, the new Super Chronomat Automatic 38 is dazzling. The dial is available in silver, mint green or ice blue, which is paired with a rubber, polished metal or alligator leather strap. More than a watch, the Super Chronomat Automatic 38 is a true piece of jewellery.

Winter time, the history of time change

winter time

Twice a year, our habits are disrupted by the time change. So, even if this procedure will perhaps disappear one day, this Saturday 29 October, don’t forget to set your watch back an hour before going to bed. When it’s 3 a.m., it will actually be 2 a.m. Let’s find out why we are switching to winter time.

The origins of the time change

The change from summer to winter is an old idea. The change of time has been evoked in order to save energy and for a question of practicality. In the mid-19th century, the Italian Giuseppe Barilli proposed unifying the times across the time zones. This system of harmonisation took time to set up. The Scotsman Sir Sandford Fleming invented a method in which the globe is divided into 24 time zones with the same reference point: the Greenwich meridian. However, it was only much later, with the development of rail transport, that the need to unify time was felt. Various countries around the world began to adopt this change.

Time change around the world

Worldwide, the time change is applied by about 70 countries. Some countries near the equator, some countries in Africa and Indonesia do not use it. Other countries, such as Brazil, Canada and the United States, do not apply it uniformly. In order to facilitate transport, communication and trade within the EU, the European Parliament decided to harmonise the time change dates in 1998. Since then, we have had to move our watches forward one hour in the spring and backward one hour in the autumn.

We hope you have learned something from this article and remember that the time change will take place this weekend, on Saturday night.
